Road Cycling 101 9:30Am (VAN)
About this event
Ride Style: Group, no rider ever left behind!
Our beginner bike ride series, Road Cycling 101, is "going on the road" with this special ride from The Community Hub, a non-profit bike shop and all-around groovy place in downtown Vancouver.
We'll ride with Preston and the gang from The Hub on a route he has picked out just for us.
NOTE: Our route -today only- is not suitable for brand new riders. We will climb a hill (McLoughlin)! Riding or hopping off and walking - both work fine. We will also descend a hill (Blandford). Make sure your bike is in good working order and that you feel ready to try both of these challenges. This is a no-drop ride, but you must have a reasonable degree of experience and confidence to be safe on this route. There may be an option to learn how to ride the I-5 bridge to Jantzen Beach. Yahooo!
We'll get to see the bike shop and meet the people there. You'll find expertise and some treasures for the bargain-hunter.
After the ride there are lots of fun places to grab a bite if we want, so you might want to bring a lock and $.
Here's a recent photo of Preston and the kids in the Bike-to-Leadership program, one of the community service programs Bike Clark County offers to promote safe cycling but also getting our kids involved in leadership activities. Some of these kids will ride with us on this route. Looks like we'll have LOTS of help if anyone needs it!
