TOTALLY DIFFERENT ROUTE AND STARTING POINT JUST FOR TODAY! We ride from the Old Library out to the Port of Vancouver. Wheels roll at 9:30! Why? We're celebrating with the port their most recently finished section of completely separate bike path. Note: Can you ride an easy 3 miles, take a break and ride another 3 miles back? The round trip is only 6 miles. If you choose not to extend the ride, Jan will lead you back to town after the festivities. We'll follow Port Commissioner/VBC member Don Orange as he leads us down the path.
Wild flowers, birdies, native plants--it's nice! Cookies, speeches, ribbon cutting and then we pedal out to Frenchman's Bar before heading back to the start via the waterfront and the land bridge. Wear your VBC jersey and let's enjoy this great gift from the Port of Vancouver.
The 12 ft.-wide pathway now extends 1.38 miles from the convergence of Mill Plain, Fourth Plain and Lower River Road northwest to Farwest Steel.
This new section features a unique elevated boardwalk constructed in two 115 ft. sections. The boardwalk, made of special slip-resistant pultruded grating, will take cyclists and walkers over a section of wetland.
