Humane Half Century @ 8 am (VAN)

  Good Day Sunshine
HELP!
I couldn't decide which song fit this ride best.
(This will be my longest ride this year, and I need a little HELP from my friends.)
Oh, those Beatles!  Sing along (click link above), get your gear, and let's ride.

Distance(s):

50 miles   The Humane Half Century (link to see route, hills, etc.)

Terrain:

Moderate

Elevation Gain:

1290 ft

Pace:

I can go 16 on the flats without wind but not for 50 miles.  Probably we'll see 14mph much of the time as we look at our speedometers, also less sometimes.  I might want to kick it occasionally since this is the new SUMMER ME (I hope), but this IS a 50-miler...

Ride Type:

Re-group after hills and at turns in a safe, off-road spot.

Weather Cancels?

No way.  We're doing GOOD DAY, SUNSHINE!

Description:

NOTE for FAST folks:

This ride will be LONG at my pace.  If you're hoping for zippy, all I can say is I am hoping, too, but reality sucks.
Our route starts early enough that I'm hoping we can get back before The Diner closes (2pm) or there's also the very tasty pizza at Heavy Metal Brewing also in the same shopping area.

Our route:

Our route takes us out to Battle Ground via Salmon Creek with a STOP at
Dungeon Donuts/Old Town Battle Grounds - two great names with yummy goods.

Return via 503 bike path, hole in the fence, China Ditch, climb Green Mt from the north (easy way), Goodwin (hard way) then some of the RACC 34 back.

Restroom opportunities: Fuller Park (mile 12), BG (mile 23), Hockinson Meadows (mile 33), New Seasons (mile 44).

Expectations:

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign up and be a part of the announcements and safety briefing.

Riders are expected to have read the club's Safe Riding Policy and  be familiar with club Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions or concerns to the ride leader or our club Road Captain.

Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), Road IDs, cell phones, tool kit, mirrors, and pump are recommended. Check your bike and gear before you come to make sure it's in good working order.  Seriously.

Ride leader will bring maps/cues to the ride.  You can see our route online at the Ride With GPS link above. Riders should be able to maintain the stated pace, but this is a "No rider left behind group." Please communicate with your leader if you decide to go off route.

Remember - we want to be awesome representatives of the cycling community in Clark County and spread a love and respect for our great sport by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner.  Ride safely and have fun!
