Buddies List

You volunteered!

Hi all VBC volunteers,

Shine up your tires, fill water bottles and join us Saturday for riding and pizza eating.

What I’d love to hear at the pizza party are your behind-the-scenes stories.  Fun stuff, unsung heroes, whatever.  I’m thinking of RACC stories, but this fun is for ALL volunteers: ride leaders, picnic, I-205 path clean up, VBC board, staffing tables at farmers market, etc, so ANY volunteer effort story would be great.

For example, Kelly and Sandford took leaf blowers out to a path on the shorty RACC route last year and sent the fir needles flying.  This year Sally W got the glass off the path that we didn’t even know was there until she called and volunteered.

While we’re on Kelly, last year he created the Mythical Mister.  It was so popular that a crew worked with Gus and Philip this year (they’re so humble I don’t even know who all worked on it) to create 2 copies for other rest stops.  Turns out nature provided us with more than adequate mist.

One RACC rider’s comment regarding the weather was, “I got soaked!  But my shoes dried out in a couple of hours.  It was a great ride!”  I wish I had her attitude.

Did you hear that Chip and Sue are adopting?  Yes! They want Danny!  He showed up at the 410 as a surprise and literally helped all day at Chip’s rest stop.

Did you get 1 of the over 500 cookies baked by Julie’s mom?  Yep, she supplied all RACC cookies except for a few I baked when I was so inspired by her generosity that I just wanted to help.  Then she worked the Ridgefield rest stop with Handsome Jack AND brought a friend to help also.

Heather made smoothies at Frenchman’s Bar.  Wouldn’t riders feel treated with smoothies to slurp?

Thank you all and see you soon. Ride and feed or just one or the other.

Bring your stories to the pizza party.  Share.
