DETAILS

One of the prettiest routes in the area. Ride past Frenchman’s Bar Park to the end of the road and back. On the return, the park offers a good rest stop with water fountains and restrooms. It is right on the river so we can watch the ships, birds and fisherman (on a warm day you might want to sit for awhile). On a good day we can see four mountains. In the spring and fall the wetlands are teaming with birds of all kinds. You are almost guaranteed to see osprey. Be aware that traffic can be bad on warm weekends and evenings.

There is often glass and debris on this route but at other times it is clean and clear, best to keep an eye out to avoid obstacles. There have been serious accidents on Lower River Road that involved riders going fast in pace lines and hitting debris. Slowing down and enjoying the scenery is highly recommended.
