DETAILS
This route is a new Rails to Trails project from the city of Scappoose to the city of Vernonia. Ride from the Multnomah Channel to the Coast Range and through lush forests. Watch out for walkers and equestrian users as the CZ is a multi-use trail. Stay on the designated trail as private property runs through and nearby.
Although this is a gradual climb, it's still a 1,400' climb each way, so please consider your fitness when signing up.
We will ride from Scappoose to Vernonia where we will stop for lunch. Once ready, we will head back to our cars in Scappoose.
I was informed that we have another option to get to Vernonia which bypasses the highway, and sticks to the CZ trail only. It's about 6 miles shorter, but 500' more of elevation gain. I am linking both so we can review and decide.
