This is a JOY!ride+ which means it's just a little longer than 10 miles. Still very social pace and not too difficult.
Tonight - plan to arrive about 4:30 if you haven't been inside the Bike Clark County Shop in a while. They offer new and new-to-you items. They have some great prices on everything including clothing samples, used items and more.
AND - WE'LL CHECK OUT THE CYCLING CLOSET OF FREEBIES!
Or - bring some freebies FOR the Cycling Closet which is VBC's big closet of donated items free to anyone.
We'll ride a friendly pace out to the Shillapoo Wildlife Area and our route includes
3 parks
friendly neighborhood streets
some of the Port of Vancouver's pathways
Gateway overpass
opportunity to discuss and practice how to safely cross railroad tracks
The new waterfront area - ooh and ahh!

FAQs:
What do I need to bring?
Bring your bike in good working order (Air up YOUR TIRES!) and your helmet. You might also consider bringing a bottle of water and some way to carry it as you ride and a small snack. If you have front / rear lights for your bike, great. We recommend them for safety, but lights aren’t a deal-breaker. Helmets ARE required for all VBC rides.
Is there a fee? Is membership in the club required?
No. All VBC rides are free with the exception of the Ride Around Clark County. You do not have to be a club member and there is no requirement that you plan to join the club.
Where do we ride?
Riding a bike on the road can be scary and it can be hard to get started on your own. On JOY!rides we attempt to take the fear out of the experience by supporting the group with an experienced ride leader, providing good routes and tips, and promising to never leave a rider behind. By riding with coaches and others new to cycling, we hope to help each rider identify their goals and reach them, whether you’re starting your triathlete career or riding to the grocery store or want to ride with a group on club rides.
|
Ride Schedule:
|
Between 4:45 PM and 5:00 PM we'll introduce ourselves and review bike safety and the rules of the road.
Wheels roll at 5:00PM.
|
Expectations:
|
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign up and be a part of the announcements and safety briefing.
Riders are expected to have read the club's Safe Riding Policy and be familiar with club Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions or concerns to the ride leader or our club Road Captain.
Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), Road IDs, cell phones, tool kit including a tube that fits your tire, mirrors, and pump are recommended. Check your bike and gear before you come to make sure it's in good working order. Seriously.
Remember - we want to be awesome representatives of the cycling community in Clark County and spread a love and respect for our great sport by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner. Ride safely and have fun!
