Code of Conduct


VBC is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone. This Code of Conduct applies to all club-related activities, including group rides, meetings, social events, volunteer opportunities, online spaces, and communications. By participating, you agree to help create a positive experience for all riders and community members.

  • Everyone is Welcome: We value a diverse community and do not tolerate discrimination or exclusion based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Practice Respect: Treat all participants, guests, and members of the public with courtesy. Assume good intent, listen actively, and communicate constructively.
  • Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Harassment, intimidation, stalking, unwanted sexual attention, slurs, threats, or deliberate disruption is prohibited—both at physical events and in club communications (including social media and group chats).
  • Ride Safely & Predictably: Follow all traffic laws and VBC riding guidelines. Follow traffic laws and riding guidelines. Hold your line, signal turns/stops, call out hazards, pass on the left and announce your presence clearly, and avoid aggressive or reckless behavior that endangers others.
  • Support Riders of All Levels: Be encouraging, especially to new riders. Provide help when asked, share the road, and never shame others for their pace, experience, equipment, or fitness level.
  • Look Out for One Another: If a fellow rider is in distress, lost, or experiencing a mechanical issue, assist them until they are safe. Report urgent safety concerns to a ride leader immediately.
  • Respect Leadership: Follow instructions from ride leaders and event organizers regarding safety, route decisions, regrouping, and logistics.

If a problem arises, address it calmly or involve a ride leader/club officer. If you experience or witness a violation of this Code, please report it to conduct@vbc-usa.com as soon as possible. We take all reports seriously and will respond appropriately.


Depending on the severity and frequency of the behavior, violations may result in a warning, removal from an event, suspension of participation, or termination of membership.
