DETAILS
This is a shortened version of the Five Finger Tom ride in recognition of it getting dark as the months tick by. It is a classic VBC route usually done during the day and some evenings by other ride leaders.
The scenery includes nice neighborhoods, parks and open countryside. Birds can fill the sky and fields during migration seasons. The outbound roads are smooth with good bike lanes. NW Lower River Road can have high truck traffic, but that is generally lessened in the evenings. Glass and other debris from the waste hauling vehicles can be a hazard, but the wide shoulder makes navigating around such things easy.
We'll take a short restroom break at the Bar, then return via Lower River Road or, if the group wants to try something a little different, Old Lower River Road and return to the carpark by going over the Vancouver Land Bridge.
While this is a re-group ride registrants may go faster than the listed pace with the understanding that they are either familiar with the route and/or have it on their phone/bike computer. Anyone going ahead will be responsible for their own navigation and safety.

NOTES
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in with the ride leader and participate in the pre-ride discussion and safety briefing.
- Riders are expected to have read the Safe Riding Policy and be familiar with the Ride Style Definitions.
- Please direct questions to the ride leader or Road Captain.
- Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), RoadIDs and cell phones are recommended.
- Please complete an ABC Quick Check prior to arriving at the start (air, brakes, chain and crank; quick releases and a short ride to make sure all is working properly). And an ABC Quick Check once again at the start.
- Riders should be able to maintain the stated pace. Please communicate with the leader if you decide to go off route or not return to the start.
- Remember - we want to be awesome representatives for cycling and spread a love for our great sport locally by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner. Ride safely and have fun!
