President's Message: RACC 2026 Results + RACC ...

Buddies,

I wanted to share the results of this year's Ride Around Clark County event and let you know about important changes coming to RACC in 2027.

RACC 2026 results
Thanks to strong leadership from RACC Chair Judy Boyle and a tremendous effort by our 100-plus volunteers, RACC was a big success this year.
• 480 riders registered, up from 375 in 2025
• Income was $34,556 up from $29,516
• Expenses fell to $10,704 from $14,206 largely because there was no post-ride sandwich bar
• Net proceeds came to $23,852, up from about $15,310 in 2025
If interested, you can find a chart showing additional financial data for RACC at the end of this email.
As in past years, we will donate a substantial share of the proceeds to bicycle-related charities before the end of the calendar year, with Bike Clark County as our primary beneficiary. If you know of a bicycle-related charity in Clark County we should support, let me know!

Changes for RACC in 2027
RACC's success also brings a change. VBC is a nonprofit social club, and IRS rules for clubs like ours limit the proportion of a club's total income that can come from non-members. Non-member RACC registrations now make up a substantial share of VBC's total income.
To investigate this, the Board formed a Special Committee on Club and Event Structure, which spent the past two months working with a local CPA firm with nonprofit expertise. On the CPA's and the committee's advice, the Board has decided that, starting in 2027, RACC will be a member-only event to keep the club in good standing.
If you are already a member, nothing changes: register and pay the ride fee as usual. If you are not a member and want to ride, join VBC first, then register. Membership and registration are separate, but you can complete both online in one session.
We will discuss this change and what it means for the club's direction at the club meeting on November 11. I hope to see you there!
