Updates on our progress towards building a more Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone.

If you're like a lot of people who bike, today isn't the only day you think about the Earth and the health of our planet. People who bike have a connection with our environment that's hard to understand if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel in traffic.

But we think more people should be able to experience what we experience: the slight chill of an early morning ride in the spring, the sweet smell of honeysuckle as you sail by a garden in bloom.
That's why we love Bike Month. It's our time to get everyone out on bikes, whether because of the weather or because your Bike to Work Day pitstop has awesome swag.

So if you're as excited about May as we are, mark your calendars for the big days for biking next month:
  • May 5th - National Ride a Bike Day
  • May 8th - Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Day
  • May 13-19th - Bike to Work Week
  • May 17th - Bike to Work Day

Make Every Ride Count in May!

In case you missed it, we're partnering with Love to Ride this Bike Month to #MakeEveryRideCount! Not only will you help us show decisionmakers how many people are riding bikes all the time (not just for commuting), you can help your fellow riders find safer routes on the app's new heatmap. Learn more and watch our webinar from last week all about the app and the campaign »
E-Bike Legislation Round-up

Too many states are considering laws that would make e-bikes harder to own and use by requiring registration, licenses, and insurance for e-bikes. These regulations would disproportionately impact low-income communities and people of color, and could discourage people from choosing a sustainable mode of transportation like biking. Learn why the League opposes these bills and urges states to focus on infrastructure improvements instead »
Yes, You Can be an LCI!

Hopefully you know (or now you do) that the League offers seminars to train League Cycling Instructors (LCIs). These LCIs then go out and teach the League's Smart Cycling curriculum, which covers everything from safe riding to bike maintenance for all ages and experience levels. All of this encourages more people to ride, making roads safer for everyone. Find an upcoming LCI Seminar near you and get started on your LCI journey»
