Want to learn to use MAX and your bike?  Want to ride four Portland paths and stop for coffee at Madrona Hill?

We meet and ride from Pearson Air Museum (please park ON THE STREET) to Expo Center and hop on MAX.  Bring $ to buy your ticket (EXACT CHANGE $1.25 Honored or $2.50 Adult) on the MAX platform or your Hop Fastpass.  We ride paths, PDX downtown and have coffee.

WHY IS THIS A GUINEA PIG RIDE?  Because this route is new and untested.  When Carol came up with this idea, I was so thrilled I thought we ought to post it to the calendar rather than just test it first.  If you come with us, bring your spirit of adventure.  Be prepared in case we need to go to Plan B.  It will be fun!  Print a cue from the map link.  Carol will bring a couple, but my printer is sulking.

Depart the MAX and ride the Eastbank Esplanade to cross the river on the Tilikum Bridge.  Fun!  We ride the westbank trail side to Broadway Bridge and wind up over at Madrona Hill Coffee for a wee break.  We catch the Penninsula Crossing Trail to McCoy Park for restrooms, and then head through the Sewer Park where we either can ride one mile of fairly bumpy trail or a couple of miles on streets to avoid it if anyone is uncomfy with the trail.

Back over the I-5 bridge to Pearson.

The one section not included on the map link is the ride from Pearson to MAX.  It's about 3 miles.

Important Details:
E-bike friends:  I have not taken one on MAX.  Likely it's no problem.
Trike friends:  I have a workaround route to meet us at the Rose Quarter Interstate MAX Transfer Center. I think trikes are not allowed on MAX.  Map link to meet us when we depart MAX

Notes:

Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign up and be a part of the announcements and safety briefing. Riders are expected to have read the Safe Riding Policy and be familiar with the Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions to the ride leader or Road Captain. Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), RoadIDs and cell phones are recommended. Please make sure to print a ride cue sheet, if you need one. Make sure your bike is in good working order. Riders should be able to maintain the stated pace of the group they choose. Please communicate with the leader if you decide to go off route or not return to the start. We want to be awesome representatives for cycling and spread a love for our great sport locally by obeying traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner. Ride safely and have fun!
