First - It's going to RAIN and I'm going to RIDE. Why? Because Friday, Portland celebrates the long-awaited Better Naito Forever. Lots of bike-friendly GREEN paint! This street was 2 traffic lanes NB with a bike lane and was constantly clogged in summertime with walkers who had nowhere to walk due to fencing for events. Fast forward: it's a 1-lane street NB with a 2-way protected bikeway, a dedicated space for walkers, bike signals---and more.
ROUTE LINK
Ribbon cutting, donuts and coffee, speeches --We'll miss most of these things. I like to sleep in and can't imagine riding in the rain to then stand around. But at 10:30 the Portland Bicycle Advisory Committee will lead us on a friendly 5-mile tour of the downtown area. THAT interests me! Total distance for us is around 25 miles. Note: if the rain gets to us, the MAX is just 6 blocks to the west. We hop on and are transported in style for much of our return trip home to Expo. Credit cards, exact cash, or Hop FastPass.
Notes:
Please arrive 15 minutes early to be a part of the announcements and safety briefing. Riders are expected to have read the Safe Riding Policyand be familiar with the Ride Style Definitions.
