Explore and More @ NOON (VAN)

Oh, Clark County, how do we love thee--
And all thy little oddities and lovely roads?
We'll ride some of the 34,68, 100-mile RACC backwards.
Then we'll try some back roads off the RACC route.
Did you know the Port of Camas-Washougal has an air field?  We'll see it
That's enough for one day, but if you haven't seen the car in the roof...

Distance(s):

25 miles   ROUTE (link to see route, hills, etc.)  Please print your cue sheet.

Terrain:

Moderate

Elevation Gain:

846 ft

Pace:

14 with friendly stops - I am probably overly hopeful about my ability to lead this ride at 14, however, I'm good on the downhills!  Wait for me on the uphills, ok?

Ride Type:

Re-group: you should be able to ride 14mph on the flats, but we will re-group when hills separate us.  There are only a couple of hilly sections.

Weather Cancels?

48 degrees at noon with 4 mph wind?  It just doesn't get any better in February.  Not gonna cancel!

Description:

NOTE THE START:  New Seasons on 164th   TIME: NOON.

We ride a clockwise loop with new and old bits pieced together.

Our route:

Some city, some country and enough leg-stretchers to earn that treat at the end.  We climb Lake Rd to get home.

Expectations:

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign up and be a part of the announcements and safety briefing.

Riders are expected to have read the club's Safe Riding Policy and  be familiar with club Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions or concerns to the ride leader or our club Road Captain.

Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), Road IDs, cell phones, tool kit, mirrors, and pump are recommended. Check your bike and gear before you come to make sure it's in good working order.  Seriously.

Ride leader will bring maps/cues to the ride.  You can see our route online at the Ride With GPS link above. Riders should be able to maintain the stated pace, but this is a "No rider left behind group." Please communicate with your leader if you decide to go off route.

Remember - we want to be awesome representatives of the cycling community in Clark County and spread a love and respect for our great sport by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner.  Ride safely and have fun!
