High cadence cycling (over 90 RPM) offers no benefit to amateurs, finds new study.  https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/02/190212120114.htm

Per the article, "Pedaling at cadence greater than 90 revolutions per minute is advantageous for professional cyclists, but appears inefficient for recreational cyclists.

The article also notes that “The results showed that forces exerted on the pedals decreased at higher cadences,” so there is still some advantage of keeping those RMPs in the 70-90 range.  But no reason to feel bad if you can’t crank-em-up over 100.
