Buddies List

2020 Ride of Silence Wednesday, May 20
Author Last Post

Buddies,

First, I hope you are all pedaling, keeping safe and staying well.

Tomorrow is the annual worldwide Ride of Silence.  We ride in silence to honor and remember people who were hit and killed or injured while riding their bikes.

In 2019 our club rode from Bike Clark County.

Worldwide in 2019 there were 359 locations, 47 US states, 20 countries, and 7 continents.

0 words spoken, a million memories.

This year we encourage you to ride safely solo, in a family group, or virtually on a trainer. The ROS organization reports that an event in the Palmer Station of Antarctica has been doing their rides on stationary trainers for years.

Post on social media after you ride:  Ride of Silence Facebook, Strava, etc, using the hashtag #RideofSilence2020 with a photo/selfie.

We have no ghost bikes in Vancouver, but if you would like to ride in memory of the Vancouver teacher Gordon Patterson or the child Benjamin Fulwiler, you can look at our 2019 route which marks the locations where they died and include their names in your post.

Weather looks like it might cooperate tomorrow at 7pm.  If it doesn’t or you feel uncomfortable riding solo at 7pm, the official alternate date/time is 10am the following Saturday (May 23).

Worldwide:

7pm

Silent

Short
